Flock the Yard

Adopt a flamingo and help us raise dollars for in-honor of or in-memory-of breast cancer patients this month. When you adopt a flamingo during Breast Cancer Awareness Month you help us raise funds for the urgent needs of breast cancer patients while raising awareness of our work. For each $10 donation, we put a pink flamingo in our Hope Chest Resale Store yard. Our goal is to have over 1,000 Flamingos adopted by October 31st.

100% of the proceeds of Flock the Yard benefit the Hope Chest for Breast Cancer Foundations’ mission to financially support MN breast cancer patients.

The Story Behind the Flock
Flock the Yard began with Hope Chest supporter and breast cancer patient Mary Leisses. After her diagnosis in 2011, Mary wanted to help other Minnesota families facing breast cancer. She chose the pink flamingo as a symbol of hope and began selling flamingos for $10 each to benefit Hope Chest. What started as a small fundraiser quickly became a community tradition, with hundreds of flamingos filling Mary’s yard and raising thousands of dollars to support local families.

Following her passing in 2019, Hope Chest proudly continued the tradition in her honor. Today, Mary’s flamingos gather on the lawn of the Hope Chest Resale Store each October, serving as a tribute to her legacy and a visible reminder that no one should face breast cancer alone. Every flamingo adopted helps provide emergency financial assistance for Minnesota breast cancer patients and their families.
