Apply for A Grant
Since 2001, Hope Chest has distributed over $3.5 million financial assistance grants to over 6,500 Minnesota breast cancer patients and their families. Each grant represents hope and relief, two elements that are crucial in the fight against breast cancer. The Hope Chest patient grants help to pay the rent or mortgage. They cover car payments, gas cards, utility bills, groceries, and childcare costs.
We hope that someday our services aren’t needed, because there will be a cure. Until then, Hope Chest is here to help ease the daily burdens of breast cancer treatment.
What to have ready when you apply:
- The invoice you want paid
- The name of the hospital or clinic where you’re receiving treatment
- Email, phone number, and name of your medical social worker, nurse, or health navigator
How the Grant Process Works
Step 1:
Complete the online grant application.
Step 2:
Your medical provider will verify your application.
Step 3:
Hope Chest reviews the verified application.
Step 4:
You'll be notified (via email) whether or not you've been approved.
Step 5:
If you have been approved, funds will be sent directly to the need (e.g. your landlord, your utility provider, etc.).
Do I Qualify?
- To be eligible to receive emergency assistance funds from Hope Chest for Breast Cancer Foundation, you must be a resident of Minnesota and be in active treatment for breast cancer in the state of Minnesota. Guidelines for Patients.
- Active treatment is defined as intravenous chemotherapy and most intravenous immunotherapies. Hormone therapy after surgery (adjuvant therapy), subcutaneous and most oral therapies, and hospice care are not considered active treatment.
- Your health care provider will receive an email to verify your treatment, and once done, your application can be processed. We strive to respond to all applications as quickly as possible.
