The Hope Chest Resale Shop is currently hiring part-time sales associates. 

Position Summary: 

The Part-Time non-exempt Sales Associate provides excellent customer service while supporting daily resale store operations. Primary responsibilities include accurately operating the point-of-sale system, maintaining an organized and welcoming store environment, and assisting customers with purchases and donations. 

 Responsibilities: 

• Provide friendly, attentive, and professional customer service to shoppers and donors 
• Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system and cash register accurately, including handling cash and card transactions Assist with pricing and preparing merchandise for the sales floor 
• Assist with merchandising and maintaining attractive product displays 
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and general housekeeping of the store 
• Inform customers and donors about the foundation’s mission, programs, and services, including drop-off and delivery  
• Follow all safety protocols and procedures 
• Comply with store policies and operational guidelines 
• Support team members and management as needed to ensure smooth daily operations 

Qualifications: 

• Minimum of two years of sales experience (or equivalent demonstrated performance) required, ideally in retail or nonprofit resale environments where customer service and mission impact go hand in hand 
• Strong customer service and communication skills 
• Basic math skills and attention to detail 
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced retail environment 
• Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented 

Availability Requirements:  

While availability of 25-30 hours per week is required, actual scheduled hours may vary depending on store needs. Evening, weekend, and holiday availability is essential.  

Benefits:  

• Pay: $17-$19/hr based on experience

Work Environment: 

This position is located inside a resale building setting 

Physical Demands: 

The position requires the ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks, including extended hours of standing, walking, and working on your feet. Ability to lift and carry up to 25-30 pounds on a regular basis and occasionally up to 50 pounds with team assistance, as needed.
